Clearing a path for returning citizens.
The Nehemiah Project DC (TNPDC) endeavors to improve behaviors and skills, and address mental and physical health issues. This will improve social functioning that increases opportunity for education and employment to returning citizens. This method improves their quality of life, strengthens their family and makes them productive in their respective communities.
TNPDC is strategically designed and committed to taking a holistic approach in confronting the myriad of psychosocial factors and stressors faced by every returning citizen. We define returning citizens as anyone attempting to re-enter mainstream society following a traumatic experience.
TNPDC also provides the same beneficial services to those in recovery, underserved veterans, the homeless, and those with mental or physical health issues.
Because of TNPDC’s commitment to serve those in need, TNPDC under the leadership of Ralph Williams, has seen several men facing challenges of all kinds complete TNPDC’s program successfully and have reintegrated into society and are now living a successful and fulfilling life.
*Note: The Nehemiah Project DC is currently serving men only, however, upon expansion and the proper housing, women will be included in the program.
Randall is a great success story. He exemplifies the outcomes waiting for a man who has the benefit of being serviced by The Nehemiah Project DC. Randall went to prison as a 21-year-old man. He re-entered society 14 years later at the age of 35. Randall felt like life had passed him by. The rejection he experienced on a regular basis reinforced that belief. Many thought he wasn’t worth being helped.
Even more people, and Randall himself, felt like he didn’t deserve the time and effort needed to resurrect a life that was for all intents and purposes dead. To his surprise, Randall found himself in the presence of a team of people who had a penchant for seeking out people in Randall’s condition. The rest is history.
Today (17 years later) Randall has a beautiful wife, two teenage sons, and a $550,000.00 dollar home. His wife works in cybersecurity and he is a supervisor in a government agency.
Randall is just one of a number of men with similar stories who received the type of support and wraparound services offered by The Nehemiah Project DC.
